BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southern Jaguars and Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers women’s basketball teams are set to continue postseason play following the reveal of the NCAA Division I Women’s Tournament and postseason Women’s National Invitational Tournament brackets.

The Jaguars (20-12), fresh off their first Southwestern Athletic Conference Women’s Tournament championship since 2010, earned a 16-seed in the Portland region of the NCAA Tournament and will head to Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Miss. to take on No. 1 seed Mississippi State Friday at 8:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.

The Bulldogs won the Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament championships, posting a 30-2 (15-1 SEC) record on the season. Led by player of the year candidate and All-American Teaira McCowan, Mississippi State seeks its third-straight trip to the national championship game.
