SIAC releases men’s and women’s basketball tournament brackets

Birmingham, Ala. – The SIAC revealed its 2019 conference championship brackets which feature 12 women’s teams and 13 men’s teams vying for the SIAC crown.

The men’s bracket will kick off tournament competition on Monday afternoon at the Birmingham Crossplex at 1 p.m. as No. 4 eastern division seed, Fort Valley State, is slated to take on the No. 5 western division seed, Tuskegee. Following, the No. 4 western division seed, Kentucky State, will face off against the No. 5 eastern division seed, Paine. On Tuesday, the men will compete in a trifecta of games while the No. 1 seed enjoys a first-round bye and the No. 2 eastern division seed a first and second round bye. The men’s quarterfinals will begin on Wednesday, each contest featuring the top seeds on in both divisions. On Thursday, the quarterfinals will wrap up featuring the No. 2 eastern division seed, Albany State, as teams compete for a spot in the semifinal rounds on Friday, March 1st. At the conclusion of Friday’s contests, the winners will compete in the championship game on Saturday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m. in Bill Harris Arena.

The women’s bracket features opening rounds beginning at 3 p.m. on Monday as the No. 4 eastern division seed, Fort Valley State, takes on the No. 5 western division seed, Spring Hill. Following, the bracket features the No. 4 western seed Lane taking on the No. 5 Eastern seed Paine. Opening rounds continue the following day beginning at 2:30 p.m. with a faceoff between the No. 3 (Miles) and No. 7 (Kentucky State) western division seeds before featuring the defending champions, No. 3 east seeded Clark Atlanta facing the No. 6 western seed Central State at 7 p.m. The quarterfinals will open on Wednesday featuring the No. 1 seeds prior to concluding on Thursday featuring the No. 2 seeds that afternoon. Two semifinals contests will be held on Friday prior to the championship game scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at 4 p.m.

The SIAC Basketball Tournament will take place on February 25 – March 2 in Birmingham, Alabama and will be streamed live via FloSports.
