ORANGEBURG, S.C. – South Carolina State will play a 12-game schedule during the 2019 campaign, the university announced Monday. The Bulldog slate includes six road games and six home contests at Oliver C. Dawson/Willie Jeffries Field.

Eight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matchups are on the schedule, along with four non-conference opponents, two in-state battles and one Football Bowl Subdivision team.

SC States opens the campaign at home on Aug. 31st when the Bulldogs host intrastate opponent Wofford (Business & Industry Day) at O.C. Dawson Stadium in Orangeburg, before traveling to Clinton, SC to take on Presbyterian College on Sept. 7th at Bailey Memorial Stadium.

Coach Buddy Pough’s team then head to Tampa, Fla. to take on the only FBS opponent on this year’s schedule, the University of South Florida on Sept. 14th. The contest will be followed by a home contest against Miles College on Sept. 21st (Youth/ROTC/Military Appreciation Day).

The Bulldogs get a break with a bye week on Sept. 28th, before opening MEAC play on the road against Delaware State on Oct. 5th in Dover, DE. A two-game homestand follows against league foes Florida A&M on Oct. 12th (Former Student-Athlete Appreciation/Breast Cancer Day) and Morgan State on Oct. 19th (HOMECOMING).

SC State heads to the Sunshine State for a showdown with Bethune-Cookman on Oct. 26th in Daytona Beach, before returning to Orangeburg to host defending MEAC Champion and two-time Celebration Bowl Champion N.C. A&T State on Nov. 2 (Greek Day) and Howard on Nov. 9th (Senior/High School Band/Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day).

Road games at North Carolina Central on Nov. 9th in Durham, NC and Norfolk State on Nov. 16th in Norfolk, VA close out the regular season for the Bulldogs.

Pough is entering his 18th season at the helm of the Bulldog Football program and needs just four more wins to become the all-time winningest football coach in school history.
