Texas Southern is expected to name Arizona associate head coach Clarence McKinney as its next head coach, reports indicated.
McKinney will be hired to replace former TSU head coach Michael Haywood, who resigned last week after three seasons, per Fox 26’s Mark Berman in Houston and the Arizona Daily Star.
McKinney served as Arizona’s associate head coach and running backs coach this past season. He was also a running backs coach at Texas A&M and at Houston under Kevin Sumlin.
McKinney, who was reportedly offered the job, became an attractive option for Texas Southern with his ties to the Houston area as a successful high school football coach.
An official announcement is scheduled to be made on Monday, according to the university’s website.
