The Prairie View A&M University football team lost the home opener to Southern 38-0 Saturday at Panther Stadium.
The Panthers (3-4 overall, 2-1 SWAC) gained 312 yards on 65 plays but were stifled by five turnovers. In a prime example of nothing going the Panthers’ way, four interceptions made by Southern (3-3, 2-1) came off of tipped passes.
“I take my hat off to Coach (Dawson) Odums and his coaching staff,” said PVAMU head coach Eric Dooley. “They had a great game plan together, and they came out and executed it in all three phases of the game.”
Prairie View A&M has an open date before returning to action hosting Alcorn in the 2018 homecoming game on Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
