As family members continue to finalize the public commemoration for R&B soulstress and musical legend Aretha Franklin, who died on Aug. 16 at the age of 76, HBCU band tributes are already underway.
Having the unique privilege of being one of the few schools with football teams that began the season on Aug. 25, the Prairie View A&M Marching Storm took advantage.
In its halftime tribute to Franklin, the band performed a number of her all-time great songs, including “Respect,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and “Freeway of Love.”
Below is a video of the band’s entire halftime show Saturday at Rice Stadium in Houston.
