A solid performance against the New York Jets Thursday night wasn’t enough to keep former Grambling State running back Martez Carter from being waived by the Washington Redskins Saturday.
According to reports, Carter, who didn’t appear injured during the game, was waived with an injury designation, and Redskins head coach Jay Gruden didn’t provide details as to the extent of Carter’s injury.

In his Thursday night preseason debut against the Jets, Carter rushed for 45 yards on seven carries, which included two solid runs of 33 yards and 9 yards.
There will be a day where HBCU Players get a FAIR SHOT!
Yeah there was no injury. The waiver with injury clause means that they believe he suffered and injury from camp or preseason game action. It is a common waive they put on players disclosing to other teams that potentially pick him up on injury waiver. The sad part is that he did nothing wrong and everything right and still could not get on the Redskins Roster. There is still hope some team that is thin on running back and/or that have suffered injuries at that position can pick him up off an injury waiver. Just another case of a talented HBCU player not getting a chance to play in the NFL. Either the NFL needs to expand their rosters or increase the number of teams. That is why you see so many player going to the CFL and playing in the many Arena Football leagues.
