Former Grambling State standout Martez Carter made his NFL debut Thursday for Washington in a preseason contest against the New York Jets.

Carter’s longest run of the evening was a 33-yard scamper that put Washington in scoring position in a drive that resulted with a field goal.

The undrafted free agent led all running backs in rushing with seven carries for 45 yards in a 15-13 victory over the Jets.

Below is some of what Twitter is saying about Carter’s debut.

Do the Redskins have a steal in RB Martez Carter? Size indicates rotational/boom-bust guy, but his decisiveness and ability to jump gaps in a big hurry could lead to success. Also has the potential to make gains after contact.

Though against some backups Martez Carter looked like he had good vision, quickness, and lateral movement last night #Redskins

Couple of thoughts from the 3 games last night:

-James Conner is taking Bell’s job next season
-I want to see more Martez Carter for the Skins
-Brady is still good, confirmed
-James Washington is a bad man
-People overreacted to Darnold last week, he needs time to develop

Washington’s next preseason game will be Aug. 24 against the Denver Broncos.
