The annual State Fair Classic press conference was held Monday at Dallas City Hall, which kicks off the weeklong list of festivities leading to Saturday’s football game between Grambling and Prairie View A&M at the Cotton Bowl.
Both coaches, GSU head coach Broderick Fobbs and Panthers head coach Willie Simmons were in attendance. The coaches stressed the importance of Saturday’s games not only because it is a key conference matchup, but because of the game’s historic role in the community.
Grambling athletic director Paul Bryant and Prairie View AD Ashley Robinson were also present, with each taking a moment to speak at the lectern.
Also in attendance was newly named Dallas Police Chief and GSU alumna Renee Hall, who took a moment to speak to the audience.
Both teams will enter Saturday’s contest on a winning note. Grambling (4-1) defeated Clark Atlanta Saturday 31-20 in the Chicago City Classic. Prairie View (2-2) topped Jackson State 38-9 last week at home.
