Despite winning a number of conference championships under his watch, Alabama State athletic director Melvin Hines has resigned from the position, according to a report filed by Josh Moon of the Alabama Political Reporter.
“Sources told APR this week that ASU athletic director Melvin Hines has resigned from the university. Officials are still working with Hines to determine his final day on the job, but he could work until the end of the calendar year, the sources said.”
Hines has served as the school’s AD since 2012 after replacing Stacy Danley, who was placed on leave and eventually fired in 2013.
Since the 2012-13 season, Alabama State’s athletic program has won four consecutive SWAC Commissioner’s Cup awards.
