SALISBURY, N.C. — Josh Glisson rushed for 110 yards on 17 carries for Saint Augustine’s University but the Falcons fell 49-0 to Catawba College in the season opener at Shuford Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 31.
The Falcons running back added three catches for 35 yards to lead the Falcons. Gibson was one of several Falcons who stood out in the loss.
Linebacker James Hickman recorded a game-high 14 tackles and defensive back Ahmek Henry added 11 tackles. Jake Ford averaged nearly 40 yards a punt and booted seven inside the Indians 20-yard line. His longest punt traveled 52 yards.
Despite their performances, the Falcons fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter and never recovered. The deficit reached 35-0 at halftime as the Indians scored on their first five possessions.
The Falcons play again on Saturday, Sept. 9 against Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tenn. Game time is 1 p.m.
