Virginia State releases 2017 football schedule

ETTRICK, Va. — Home games against Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) rivals Winston Salem State, Bowie State, Virginia Union University and Shaw University highlights the 2017 Virginia State University football schedule. The VSU Trojans have three nonconference contest for the 2017 season, Norfolk State University, Johnson C. Smith University and Shaw University. The 2017 schedule features four home games and six road games.

The Virginia State University Football team opens the 2017 season against Norfolk State University on Saturday, Sept. 2nd at William “Dick” Price Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. Next the Trojans will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to battle Johnson C. Smith University with kickoff slated for 4 p.m. VSU will open its first home game of the season against Winston-Salem State University on Sept. 23rd at 6 p.m. inside Rogers Stadium. On September 30, Virginia State will travel to Salisbury, North Carolina to battle conference opponent, Livingstone College with kickoff set for 6 p.m. After that the Trojans will travel to play Elizabeth City State University on the 7th of October with kickoff set for 1 p.m.

The VSU Trojans will return home for Homecoming 2017 that will be played on the 14th of October against Bowie State University at 2 p.m. Next the Trojans will travel to Lincoln, Pennsylvania to face Lincoln University on October 21 with kickoff slated for 1 p.m. and the following weekend, will travel to Murfreesboro, North Carolina to face Chowan University with kickoff set for 1 p.m.

Following the Chowan competition, season ticket holders will have the opportunity to return home for the Senior Day against I-95 rival Virginia Union University on November 4 with kickoff schedule at 2 p.m. The Trojans will close out the season with a competition against Shaw University on November 8 with kickoff schedule at 7 p.m.

    Only 3 games you would have to go to this year. NSU, BSU and WSSU. Also why is there only one OOC game? One 1 non CIAA opponent. Weak schedule.
