BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (SWAC) – With the conclusion of the regular season last night, each tournament-bound team on the men’s and women’s side now know where it will start its trek to Houston for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament.
This year, the higher-seeded teams will host the lower-seeded teams at home during the quarterfinal round. Winners in the opening-round games advance to play at the Toyota Center. Quarterfinals will be held March 7, and the semifinals and finals take place March 10-11.
On the men’s side, Texas Southern earned the No. 1 seed by winning its third-straight regular-season conference title. Alcorn State is the No. 2 seed for the second-straight year, Southern is the 3-seed for the second-straight year, and Prairie View A&M comes in as the No. 4 seed.
For the women, Grambling State holds the No. 1 seed. Texas Southern is the 2-seed, Alabama State looks to defend its tournament title as the 3-seed, and the No. 4 seed is Southern.
