BALTIMORE, Md. – Phillip Carr posted a double-double of 29 points and 12 rebounds, and Kyle Thomas made a shot with less than a minute to go to give Morgan State a 58-56 win over the Norfolk State men’s basketball team on Wednesday night in both teams’ MEAC opener.

Florida A&M 78, Howard 66

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Florida A&M Men’s Basketball team turned in their finest floor shooting performance of the season here Wednesday night as they outpaced preseason MEAC favorite Howard University, for a 78-66 win in venerable Burr Gymnasium.

Hampton 68, North Carolina A&T State 53

HAMPTON, Va. – With four players in double figures, the Hampton University men’s basketball team picked up its first MEAC win of the season on Wednesday night, upending North Carolina A&T 68-53 at the HU Convocation Center.

Coppin State 75, South Carolina State 59

BALTIMORE, Md. – Senior Chas Brown finished with a season-high 19 points in a 75-59 win for Coppin State in their MEAC opener against South Carolina State on Wednesday, January 4th in the Physical Education Complex.

Savannah State 104, Bethune-Cookman 91

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Brandon Tabb scored a game-high and career-high 30 points in Bethune-Cookman’s 104-91 loss to Savannah State in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams Wednesday night.
