These are the HBCU football players to watch ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Prairie View A&M quarterback Trey Green and running back Sta’fon McCray, Texas Southern linebacker Jarius Moore, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff return specialist Marvante King have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference for their performance in week 112of the 2016 season.

Offensive Player of the Week – Green
Prairie View A&M
Quarterback
6-3 | 225 lbs. | R-Sr. | Beaumont, Texas

Green completed a stellar 23-of-29 passes (79.3%) for 400 yards with a career high five touchdowns and no interceptions in a 57-7 win at Arkansas Pine Bluff. Green threw scoring passes of nine, 34, 64, 22 and 4 as he led the Panthers to touchdown drives on seven of the first eight full drives in the game. It was Green’s second career 400-yard passing game in leading the Panthers to their highest scoring game (57), highest passing yards total (400), and highest total yards output of the season (552).

Defensive Player of the Week – Moore
Texas Southern
Linebacker
6-0 | 220 lbs. | Sr. | Houston, Texas

Moore stuffed the stat sheet all game long against Grambling State, as he accounted for nine tackles, one sack and an interception. He also forced a fumble that he recovered and took 26 yards to the house during Texas Southern’s 47-28 loss to Grambling. Moore’s scoop-and-score gave the Tigers a 28-7 lead early in the second quarter.

Special Teams Player of the Week – King
Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Wide Receiver/Return Specialist
5-11| 175 lbs. | Jr. |

King was responsible for the Golden Lions’ lone score of its 57-7 defeat versus Prairie View, as he took a kickoff 93 yards to the end zone. On the day, Kind made four returns for 139 total yards. It was the second-longest play of the season.

Newcomer of the Week – McCray
Prairie View A&M
Running Back
5-11| 230 lbs. | R-Jr. | North Kissimmee, Fla.

McCray rushed 10 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns in the Panthers’ win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. McCray scored on runs of 13 and one yard in the second half to put the game away for Prairie View A&M.
