Grambling State and Louisiana Tech, two schools separated by a distance less than five miles, have agreed to face-off in a football game scheduled for the 2019 season for only the second time in history.
The Tigers will play the Bulldogs at Joe Aillet Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, in Ruston, La., according to a copy of the signed contract obtained by HBCU Sports through an open records request with Grambling.
Grambling will receive a guaranteed payout of $300,000 and will be provided with 400 complimentary tickets, plus a minimum of 500 tickets on consignment.
A “special arrangements” clause in the contract requires either school to pay a $500,000 penalty for canceling the contest and states that the Grambling State marching band “will be present at the game.”
The two programs first played against each other back on Sept. 10, 2010, in Shreveport, La., where the FBS member Bulldogs won that contest by a score of 20-6 before a crowd of 30,101 at Independence Stadium.
