OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK
#71 Darell Cherubin, Chowan
(So, OL – Miami, FL)
Cherubin’s efforts allowed the Hawks to pile up 650 yards of offense in a 47-14 win over Johnson C. Smith. Saturday’s win marked the Hawks’ third straight victory.

QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK
#2 Randall Dixon, Chowan
(Sr, QB – Rock Hill, SC)
Dixon had another standout week for the Hawks. He led Chowan to a 47-14 win over Johnson C. Smith after completing 27-35 pass attempts for a school record 404 yards and five touchdowns. Saturday’s win marked the Hawks’ third straight victory.

RECEIVER OF THE WEEK
#47 Lavatiae Kelly, Virginia Union
(Jr, WR – Miami, FL)
Kelly caught eight passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns against Saint Augustine’s. This marks the first time a VUU player has caught three touchdown passes since Joseph Jean-Pierre against Lincoln in 2010.

OFFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK
#26 Kerrion Moore, Winston-Salem State
(So, RB – Gastonia, NC)
Moore had an excellent game in leading the WSSU Rams rushing attack with nine carries for 179 yards and three touchdowns, including a 78-yard touchdown run in the Rams 51-10 victory over Lincoln.

DEFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK
#12 Malcolm Cherry, Elizabeth City State
(Sr, DB – Lewiston, NC)
Cherry provided the Vikings much needed breathing room against the feisty Bears from Shaw University. In the third quarter, he put ECSU in front with a 22-yard interception returned for a touchdown. Defensively, he had racked up 5 solo tackles including 2 for a loss of 4 yards and a pass breakup. The Vikings picked up their first CIAA win of the season, 28-21 over Shaw University.

LINEBACKER OF THE WEEK
#20 Demetrius Newberry, Chowan
(Sr, LB – Brunswick, GA)
Newberry recorded a team-high eight tackles (five solo, three assisted) with two sacks and two tackles for loss (24 yards). He also had a forced fumble and fumble recovery in Chowan’s 47-14 win over Johnson C. Smith. Saturday’s win marked the Hawks’ third straight victory.

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK
#56 Jerrell Timmons, Elizabeth City State
(Jr, DT – Florence, SC)
Timmons had a solid game in the Vikings’ 28-21 win over Shaw University on Saturday. He finished the game with with 8 tackles (7 solo) for a total loss of 25 yards, a sack for a loss of 11 yards, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
#1 Canard Brown, Winston-Salem State
(Jr, WR – Miami, FL)
Brown finished the night with 136 all-purpose yards, including a 44 yard punt return for a touchdown in the Rams 51-10 win over Lincoln.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
#34 Devon Hunt, Shaw
(Fr, MLB – Rockingham, NC)
Hunt poured in seven tackles (4 solo, 3 assisted) at Elizabeth City State.

COACH OF THE WEEK
Earnest Wilson, Elizabeth City State

Coach Wilson and the Vikings won their home debut and Wilson’s first CIAA career victory with ECSU’s 28-21 win over Shaw University on Saturday.
