BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama State linebacker Kourtney Berry, Grambling State quarterback Devante Kincade and wide receiver Chad Williams, and Jackson State running back Martez Carter and Jackson State kicker Adrian Salazar have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference for their outstanding performances during action on Sept. 10.

Offensive Player of the Week
Chad Williams
Grambling State
Wide Receiver
WR | Jr. | 6-2 | 193 lbs. | Baton Rouge, La.

Williams set a career-best mark in receptions, hauling in 12 grabs for 153 yards versus Arizona Saturday night, with his longest catch going for 43 yards. Williams did much of his damage in the first half, and caught four passes for 55 yards on Grambling’s final drive of the first half, which was capped by a Martez Carter 1-yard score that made the game 21-3 in favor of the Tigers.

Defensive Player of the Week
Kourtney Berry
Alabama State
Linebacker
LB | Sr. | 6-1 | 215 lbs. | Merrillville, Ind.

In his season debut, Berry picked up right where he left off in his junior season, collecting 10 total tackles (4 solo), a tackle for loss (-1) and two forced fumbles in the Hornets 21-18 defeat at Alcorn State.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Adrian Salazar
Jackson State
Kicker/Punter
K/P | Fr. | 6-0 | 170 lbs. | Charlotte, N.C.

Salazar did his part to try and pin Tenneesse State deep during the Southern Heritage Classic. In six kickoff attempts, Salazar averaged a shade under 52 yards per boot. During the game, Tenneesse State’s average field position was at its own 33-yard line.

Newcomer of the Week
Devante Kincade
Grambling State
Quarterback
QB | Jr. | 6-1 | 200 lbs. | Dallas, Texas

In just one half of play, Kincade gave the Arizona defense fits as he completed 15 of his 19 passes for 193 yards, all in the first half before getting injured against Arizona. He also tossed a pair of TDs. He also rushed 7 times for 31 yards
