Nestor graded out as the leading offensive lineman in the Bulldogs season opening loss to Seton Hill. He helped the offense gain 523 yards of total offense.

#6 Amir Hall, Bowie State
(Fr, QB – Bowie, MD)
Hall had an amazing debut for the Bulldogs, throwing for a school record 427 yards, completing 23-of-38 passes (2 interceptions) and tied the Bowie State record for TD passes in a game with five. His longest TD pass of the afternoon was for 71 yards.

#8 Nyme Manns, Bowie Sate
(Sr, WR – Baltimore, MD)
Manns had an amazing record-setting afternoon in the Bulldogs season opener, leading both teams with a BSU single-game record of 211 reception yards and tied the school record (for the second time in his career) for TD receptions in a game (3).

#28 Stevie Green, Fayetteville State
(R-Fr, RB – Washington, NC)
Green made his 2016 debut with 136 yards rushing off 19 carries against Chowan. He averaged 7.2 yards per carry and broke for his longest run of 32 yards.

(Jr, LB – Selma, AL)
Johnson led all players with 16 total tackles (sixth-most in a single game in VUU history) against LIU Post.
DEFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK
#8 Carlo Thomas, Johnson C. Smith
(Jr, DB – East Orange, NJ)
Thomas led JCSU with 13 tackles (10 solo) and had two interceptions, taking one back 48 yards for a touchdown in JCSU’s 38-28 loss at Wingate. Thomas finished with 119 INT return yards. He also had one PBU.

#15 Maurice Williams, Bowie State

Williams made a big splash in his first game as a Bulldog, pacing Bowie State with a game-high 245 all-purpose yards that included 201 kickoff return yards, 26 receiving yards, and 18 rushing yards.

Reggie Barlow, Virginia State
Head Coach Reggie Barlow took down the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne, 34-9, on Sept. 3 as he made his VSU and CIAA debut. Barlow had the largest scoring margin of the CIAA’s 2016 football season opening games.
