WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University football team will report to campus for fall practice Tuesday, with practice for the 2016 season scheduled to start Thursday morning.

The players will report throughout the day on Tuesday, with the first practice scheduled for Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Civitan Park. The team’s Meet the Rams Day is scheduled for Saturday, August 20th. [lasso align=”right” cart=”y” identifier=”B00EZSHX4O” locale=”US” tag=”hbcusports-20″ ref=”amzn-ncaa-winston-salem-state-rams-mens-t-shirt-x-large-gray” type=”single” id=”71882″ link_id=”4875″]

Winston-Salem State returns seven starters on offense and six on defense from the 2015 squad that captured the program’s 11th CIAA Championships, and third since 2011. The Rams were picked to finish at the top of the Central intercollegiate Athletic Association again in 2016.

Three WSSU players were named to the preseason All-CIAA. The team’s first-team honorees were Jac’que Polite (OL), Tim Samuels (OL) and Will Johnson (K).

Winston-Salem State opens the 2016 season on Saturday, Sept. 3, when the Rams host UNC Pembroke. Kickoff for the contest is set for 6 p.m. at Bowman-Gray Stadium.
