NORFOLK, Va. — Florida A&M senior Alec Wong was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Coppin State’s John O’Dwyer earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Michael Parmentier, of Norfolk State, was named Pitcher of the Week.
Wong (2B, 5-6, 160, Sr., Rockledge, Fla.) batted .722 (13-of-18), with one double, five RBIs, two home runs, nine runs scored and three walks, in five games against Mercer and North Carolina A&T State. He went 4-for-4, with two runs scored, in a 20-4 victory over North Carolina A&T State.
J. O’Dwyer (DH, 6-0, Fr. Cherkasy, Ukraine) went 2-for-7 (.429) against Norfolk State and Richmond. He finished with one home run, one triple, four RBIs and one walk. He belted his first collegiate home run in a win over Richmond.
Parmentier (RHP, 6-0, So. Suffolk, Va.) notched a 1.29 ERA, in a career-high seven innings, against Duke. He scattered two hits and fanned five in the 25 batters faced.
Other Top Performers
Willis McDaniel (FAMU) finished with five hits, one runs scored and two RBIs, in four games against Mercer and North Carolina A&T State.
Bryant Miranda (CSU) went 3-for-4, with two doubles and one RBI, in a win over Richmond.
Ricky Page (FAMU) notched a career-high nine strikeouts in a win over North Carolina A&T State.
