NORFOLK, Va. — Bethune-Cookman junior Michael Cruz and Norfolk State senior Angel Rosario were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Co-Players of the Week, the conference announced today. Bethune-Cookman’s Josten Heron earned Rookie of the week, while teammate Tyler Krull was named Pitcher of the Week.

Cruz (C, 5-11, 210, Jr., Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) batted .438 (7-for-16), with three home runs, seven runs scored, five RBIs and two walks, against Stetson and North Carolina A&T State. He went 3-for-5, with two solo home runs and four runs scored to help the Wildcats complete a three-game sweep of N.C. A&T State.

Rosario (OF, 5-8, Sr., Bridgeport, Conn.) batted .375 (6-for-16) against Longwood and Delaware State. He registered two doubles, two triples, three runs scored, three stolen bases and eight RBIs during the five games. Also, he went 3-for-4, with one double, one triple, two runs scored and four RBIs in a win against Delaware State.

Heron (CF, 6-2, 195, Fr., Miami, Fla.) posted a .400 batting average (8-for-15) against Stetson and North Carolina A&T State. He produced four RBIs in the series finale against N.C. A&T State and stole one base.

Krull (P, 5-10, 180, Fr., West Palm Beach, Fla.) tossed a complete-game, one-hitter, in a 6-0 win over North Carolina A&T State. He fanned seven and did not allow a walk in the victory.

Other Top Performers

Brian Davis (FAMU) recorded four hits, with one run scored and one run driven in, against No. 4 Miami.

George Dragon (CSU) totaled eight hits, including one double, seven RBIs and four runs scored, against UMBC and Maryland Eastern Shore.

Todd Henry (DSU) finished with two hits, two runs scored and one RBI in a win over Norfolk State.

Chase Jarrell (FAMU) registered two strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched against No. 4 Miami.

Jordan Martin (UMES) batted .571, with 12 hits, including one double, four stolen bases, six runs scored and four RBIs, against Georgetown and Coppin State.

Jonathan Mauricio (NSU) pitched his second complete-game shutout of the season and struck out nine, in a win over Delaware State.

Nazier McIlwain (CSU) recorded a hit in every game, including a 4-for-6 performance against Maryland Eastern Shore.

Trevor McKenna (SSU) struck out four batters in a complete-game victory over North Carolina Central.

Aaron Rea (CSU) tossed a complete-game, six-hitter, in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.

Devin Repine (UMES) pitched 8.1 innings and fanned eight in two games against Coppin State.

Devin Sweet (NCCU) struck out five in six innings of relief and fanned five, in a win over Savannah State.

Trevor Theissen (NCCU) registered a team-high seven RBIs, including five in a doubleheader against Savannah State.
