PHOENIX, Arizona – The Jackson State men’s basketball team season came to an end Thursday night as the Tigers fell 64-54 to the Grand Canyon Antelopes in the second round of the College Insider Postseason Tournament.
The Tigers were led by Paris Collins who finished with 15 points. Raeford Worsham ended his collegiate career by scoring 14 points and Janarius Middleton added 13 points for JSU. GCU was led by Joshua Braun who scored 18 points.
JSU ends the season with a 20-16 record.
After briefly trailing GCU, the Tigers went on a 10-2 run to take a 10-7 lead by the 15:13 mark in the first half. JSU led by as many as eight points and eventually took a 27-21 lead into halftime. The Antelopes chipped away at the JSU lead and tied the game at 39 with 10:52 left in the game.
GCU took the lead for good at the 9:54 mark when DeWayne Russell made a layup. Over the last 5:35 of the game
GCU went 12-12 from the free throw line to put the game away.
