Southern Placed in First Four, Hampton To Start NCAA Tournament Against No. 1 Virginia

The NCAA Tournament field of 68 has been finalized.

SWAC champion Southern learned Sunday the program will face Patriot League champion Holy Cross (14-19) in a West Region First Four matchup Wednesday in Dayton, Ohio .

The Jaguars are back in the tournament for the first time in three years. Both teams are No. 16 seeds. The winner will play No. 1  seed Oregon in Spokane, Washington on Friday.

Hampton (21-10), who will make its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, will play No.1 seed Virginia in the Midwest Region first round on Thursday.
