The final part of our three-part series of Division I HBCU football focuses on the last four seasons for Tennessee State.

Like the previous one from the Southwestern Athletic and Mid-Eastern Athletic conferences, we break down the Tigers’ overall record, along with conference record, record at home, record on the road and neutral site games from the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Nonconference games are broken down by level of opponents:

  • “Power 5” Football Bowl Subdivision: members of ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pacific 12 and Southeastern conferences
  • “Group of 5” Football Bowl Subdivision: members of American, Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West and Sun Belt conferences
  • Football Championship Subdivision: members of Big Sky, Big South, Colonial Athletic Association, Ivy League, Mid-Eastern Athletic, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Patriot League, Pioneer League, Southern, Southwestern Athletic and Southland conferences
  • Division 2 and below: opponents playing in Division II, Division III, NAIA or United States Collegiate Athletic Association
