SBN’s 2015 Black College All-American Team Announced

(Pittsburgh, PA) – American Urban Radio Networks announced the members of the 2015 SBN Black College All-American Team Wednesday. North Carolina A&T State University, Grambling State University and Tuskegee University led the way with three players each selected to the team. In addition, three players were chosen for the second consecutive year.

It was a banner year for the North Carolina A&T State Aggies, who in addition to winning the 2015 SBN/Jake Gaither National Black College Football Championship, saw Coach Rod Broadway win the SBN/Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award. The Aggies talented running back Tarik Cohen not only made the team for the second consecutive year, he also captured the SBN/Doug Williams Offensive Player of the Year award.

South Carolina State University’s defensive lineman Javon Hargrave also made the team for a second consecutive year, and in the process captured the SBN/Mel Blount Defensive Player of the Year award.

Southern University return specialist Willie Quinn was the third player to make the All-American Team for the second consecutive year.

Cohen was the Offensive Player of the Year in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). During the season he rushed 264 times for 1543 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also caught 25 passes for 217 yards.

Tarik Cohen is a Sports Medicine Major.

Javon Hargrave (6-2 295, Sr., Salisbury, NC) South Carolina State University, 2015 SBN/Mel Blount Defensive Player of the Year

Hargrave was the 2014 SBN Sports Mel Blount Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for a second straight year. In eleven games he had 43 solo tackles, 16 assists and 13 sacks. He was fifth in the FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) in tackles for loss, had 11 quarterback hurries and 2 forced fumbles. Hargrave is a Sports Communications Major.

Rod Broadway, North Carolina A&T State University, 2015 SBN/Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year

Broadway led the North Carolina A&T State Aggies to a 10-2 record and the 2015 SBN Black College National Championship. Broadway is the first coach to win SBN Black College National Championships at three different colleges including Grambling State University (2008) and North Carolina-Central University (2006).

SBN’s 2015 Black College National Championship Team, the 2015 SBN Sports Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year, the 2015 SBN Sports Doug Williams Offensive Player of the Year and the 2015 SBN Sports Mel Blount Defensive Player of the Year will be recognized on March 19, 2016 during the enshrinement ceremony for the Black College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2016, to be held at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
