BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama State’s Britney Wright has been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for her outstanding performance in competition during January 13-19.

Wright reached 1,000 points during the 86-50 win over in-state rival Alabama A&M. She scored a game-high 24 points while grabbing five boards, three steals and two assists. She shot 58.3 percent from the field, 66.6 percent in three-point range and made six of her 8 free throw attempts.
Wright became the 11th student-athlete in the history of the ALST program to claim 1,000 points. Thus far this season, she has registered 200 points- an average of 14.3 per game.
With 45 three-pointers, Wright stands second for the Conference in the three-point field goal category.
