NORFOLK, Va. – Howard senior Victoria Gonzales and Florida A&M senior Khaderja Young were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, the conference announced today. Najai Pollard of Delaware State earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Bethune-Cookman’s Kailyn Williams was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week.

Gonzales (C, 6-1, Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) shot 57-percent from the floor (12-of-21) to record her second 30-point performance of the season. She finished with 32 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and one assist against Delaware State.

Young (G, 5-11, Sr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) averaged a double-double of 21.5 points and 11.0 rebounds, against Hampton and Morgan State. She tallied 22 points, on 10-of-13 shooting, 12 boards, two steals and one block, in a 66-59 victory over Hampton.

Pollard (F, 5-11, Fr., Richmond, Va.) totaled 28 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, two steals and one assist against Howard and South Carolina State. She matched a career-best eight field goals against Howard and finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, four blocks and two steals, in a 77-76 win over Howard.

Williams (C, 6-4, Jr., New Orleans, La.) averaged 14.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 2.0 steals in wins over Norfolk State and Coppin State. She posted 15 rebounds, six blocks and two steals, in a 53-45 win over Norfolk State. Offensively, she tallied 10 points in 37 minutes of play in the victory.

Other Top Performers: 

Amber Bogard (DSU) recorded 19 points, on 8-of-11 shooting, with three boards and two steals, against South Carolina State.

Ciani Byrom (UMES) totaled 23 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals, against Morgan State and Savannah State.

Tiyonda Davis (SSU) averaged 13.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 6.5 blocks and 1.0 steals, in wins over North Carolina Central and Maryland Eastern Shore.

Braennan Farrar (MSU) posted 27 points, including six free-throws, with seven boards and two steals, in a 77-69 overtime win over Maryland Eastern Shore.

Sydni Johnson (HOW) recorded a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, with three steals and two assists, against Delaware State.

Morgan Jones (NCCU) scored a career-high 25 points, with four rebounds, four steals and two assists, in a 63-62 win over Norfolk State.

Janelle Lane (CSU) finished with 16 points, six rebounds, one block and one steal, against Bethune-Cookman.

Kaylah Lupoe (HAM) registered a double-double of 14 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and one steal, against Florida A&M.

Shaylon Tarver (HOW) scored 10 points, with five boards, four assists and one steal, against Delaware State.

Alexis Udoji (UMES) tallied 10 rebounds, nine points and five blocks, in an overtime loss to Morgan State.

Zuri White (MSU) registered a career-high 20 rebounds, with 10 points, in a 67-62 win over Florida A&M.

K’lynn Willis (HAM) totaled 35 points, seven rebounds, five assists and one steal, against Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T State.
