Edward Waters’ Dawkins Named GCAC Women’ Basketball Player Of The Week

NEW ORLEANS (GCAConf.com) – Edward Waters College guard Kyeshia Dawkins has been named GCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Jan. 10 – Jan. 16.

Brooks, a junior from Columbia,S.C., averaged 19 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 2.0 steals for the Lady Tigers in conference wins over Tougaloo and Philander Smith.

Against Philander Smith she scored 25 points – her eighth game of 20 or more this season – while handing out a career-high nine assists.  Dawkins leads the GCAC and ranks fourth nationally, scoring 20.3 points per game.

This is her second career Player of the Week award.

Dillard’s Alena Evans grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds for the Lady Bleu Devils against SUNO…Brittany Leonard averaged 13 points in two games for Philander Smith…SUNO guard Micah Brooks had 12 points and six assists in SUNO’s 55-54 win at Dillard…Talladega’s Latisha Brown posted career highs in both points (9) and rebounds (12) as the Lady Tornadoes upset No. 13 Xavier…Montoria Atkinson posted her second consecutive double-double for Tougaloo with 17 points and 11 rebounds against Edward Waters…Xavier forward Bianca Brown had her first double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Gold Nuggets topped Philander Smith.
