We take a moment to showcase what we believe were the 10 best halftime performances by HBCU marching bands in 2015.

While lists, such as these, are always subjective, the criteria used to complete this top 10 list were simple: song selection, creativity, and most importantly crowd reaction.

As was the case with our list of “Top 10 Cover Songs of 2015 by HBCU Bands”, there were some great halftime performances in 2015 that arguably could have made this list, but didn’t. We welcome your comments in the comments section to make your case.

Here is the list.

10. Morgan State (vs. North Carolina Central)

Performed on Oct. 24 in Durham, N.C.

9. Bethune-Cookman (Homecoming)

Performed on Oct. 24 in Daytona Beach, Fla.

8. Tennessee State (Southern Heritage Classic)

Performed on Sept. 12 in Memphis, Tenn.

7. Prairie View A&M (State Fair Classic)

Performed on Sept. 26 in Dallas.

6. Norfolk State (vs. North Carolina A&T)

I’m sorry Grambling did not perform better than Alabama State University.

Great Job to all the bands but I’m sorry Cookman had the better band at the classic the only time the FAMU played good was in the hallway after the show had ended

This might be the most ridiculous thing I have ever read in the comment section of this blog. BCU has never had a better band performance than FAMU and it never will.

Southern vs J State had to be one of the best of the season. No band can out march Southern. Whoever put this list together knows “nothing” about half time shows.

All of this was nice, BUT Southern University is virtually redefining HBCU halftime field shiw standards. To imply they do not make the list with no disclaimer saying you did not see them is a travesty.
