Griffin is averaging 13.8 points and 9.9 rebounds per game this season.

Monday night wasn’t the first time Texas Southern basketball had been involved in punches being thrown during a game.

Last season, 15 players were suspended following a bench-clearing brawl during a Texas Southern-Southern women’s game on March 7, 2015.

As a result of the in-game brawl, Texas Southern withdrew from the SWAC Tournament.

Griffin, who is also a member of the Texas Southern football team, caught 36 passes for 709 yards and 11 touchdowns this past season.

Before landing Texas Southern, Griffin signed out of Terry High School in Rosenberg, Texas with the University of Miami, but was classified as an academic non-qualifier.

He then sat out the 2014 season before enrolling at TSU where he worked to become eligible, earning the required college credits to play.

This article is not accurate. Sensational as usual, especially if it is negagative toward Texas Southern. That was not a punch and he was not ejected for throwing a punch. It was a shove as he was being pulled away by his team mates. He received a flagrant 2 for incidental contact.

Bert, in the NCAA a “flagrant 2” foul results in an ejection from the game. Texas Southern’s SID has confirmed with us that Griffin was indeed ejected from the game. Kendrick’s report is accurate.

I did not say he was not ejected. I said he was not ejected for throwing a punch. He was ejected for incidental contact. The person that he was in the confrontation with is not the person that was touched.
