ATLANTA (October 26, 2015) – Matthew Vincent (Clark Atlanta) was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Week and Deonate Gary (Central State) was selected as Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) on Monday morning.

Amyr Smith (Morehouse) was named the Special Teams Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Matthew Vincent
Clark Atlanta
QB • 6-3 • 210 • Jr. • Miami, Fla.

Vincent set single-game highs for the season in completions (25) and yards passing (278) in a narrow loss to Albany State. Vincent was 25-for-35 for 278 yards with one score and one interception. The first-year starter is 96-for-178 with 1,024 yards and six touchdowns.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Deonate Gary
Central State University
Linebacker • Jr. • 6-1 • 225 • Lakeland, Fla.

In a 24-7 win over Stillman, junior linebacker Deonate Gary recorded two picks, five solo tackles and a forced fumble. Gary’s first pick came on Stillman’s first drive of the game as he stepped in front of a pass and returned it 30 yards for the game’s first score. He struck again on the first Stillman drive of the second half, intercepting another pass and taking it 51 yards to set up a CSU touchdown three plays later. Gary has a team leading 45 solo tackles and 31 assists that leads the team and ranks among the top three in the SIAC. He has a team best 18 tackles for losses heading into next week’s game against Tuskegee.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Amyr Smith
Morehouse
KR, 5-9, 170, FR, Atlanta, Ga.

Smith returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, for the second time this season. The 100-yard return for a touchdown tied the Morehouse return and scoring record that he set in Week 1. He returned another kickoff 22 yards, giving him two returns for 122 yards. He also returned three punts.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK

Smith was responsible for 267 yards on Saturday in a 42-10 win over Benedict. He posted 187 individual all-purpose yards and he threw a pass for an 80-yard touchdown.
