GRAMBLING, La. — The Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils fell to the Tigers of Grambling State University, 49-14.
Grambling State scored on its opening drive, on a nine-yard run by Jestin Kelly. Forcing the Delta Devils to punt, GSU scored again on a 56-yard fumble recovery by Arkez Cooper. Mississippi Valley cut into the Tigers’ lead in half, on a two-yard run by Thomas Stokes, Jr.
GSU dominated scoring during the second and third quarters, scoring five back-to-back touchdowns. Tre Simms pulled down a 21-yard pass from Thurstin Rubin, Jr., to wrap up scoring for the contest.
Rubin went 13-31-2 for 180 yards and one touchdown for the day. Stokes paced the Delta Devils with 127 net rushing on 30 carries and one touchdown. DeMarius Howard led MVSU in receiving with 65-yards on two receptions.
Defensively, Charles Moore tallied nine total tackles (8 solo and one assist) to lead Mississippi Valley.
On October 31 the Delta Devils will host, the Tigers of Jackson State University at 4:00 p.m.
