OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK
#55 Kelvin McCoy, Chowan
(Sr, OL – Inglewood, CA)
Kelvin McCoy led an offensive line that collected 373 offensive yards in the Hawks’ 27-24 win over Winston-Salem State University and did not allow a sack over the course of the afternoon.

QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK
#18 Matthew Goggans, Bowie State
(Sr, QB – Pine Grove, CA)
Goggans completed 17-of-26 passes (one INT) on Saturday afternoon for a game-high 177 yards and three touchdowns.

RECEIVER OF THE WEEK
#1 Marcel Caver, Winston-Salem State
(Sr, WR – Bedford Heights, OH)
Marcel Caver led the WSSU Rams receivers with a nine catch, 100 yard day. He had a big play of a 66 yard receiving touchdown late in the fourth quarter of the Rams loss to Chowan. Caver also threw one pass on the day, a 44 yard completion!

OFFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK
#25 Trenton Cannon, Virginia State
(So, RB – Hampton, VA)
Cannon led the Trojans with 151 net rushing yards and 2 touchdowns over the Falcons. Through the rain and windy weather, Cannon was able to slip through the Falcons defense to push the Trojans to a victory.

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK
#40 Michael Bloomfield, Winston-Salem State
(Sr, DL – Jacksonville, NC)
Bloomfield had a breakout game with a game-high 11 tackles and two tackles for loss in the Rams loss to Chowan.

LINEBACKER OF THE WEEK
#50 Austin Jacques, Johnson C. Smith
(Sr, LB – Springdale, Md.)
Jacques, for the second consecutive week, led JCSU in tackles with 17, including 11 solo stops. He recorded two tackles for loss for 13 yards and had a pass breakup, that was nearly an interception.

DEFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK
#37 Eric Henderson, Fayetteville State
(Jr, DB – Charlotte, NC)
Henderson had a game-high 11 tackles (5 solo) in the Broncos 49-17 win over Lincoln. The Broncos secondary only allowed 26 yards passing on seven completions out of 20 pass attempts. Henderson also had half a tackle for a loss and a pass breakup.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
#5 Jeff Flores, Elizabeth City State
(Sr, K – Lancaster, CA)
Flores was 5-of-6 on extra punt attempts in the Vikings’ rained soaked outing vs Livingstone. He had seven kickoffs for 397 yards (avg of 56.7) including one touchback and punted the ball six times for 207 yards (long of 46, average of 34.5) including three inside the 20-yard line. Additionally he nearly picked up a 1st down on a mishandled punt attempt in the rainy conditions, scampering for a 9 yard pickup. In the Vikings 41-6 win, the Blue Bears average starting position was their own 26 yard line.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
#21 Daveon Perry, Winston-Salem State
(Fr, DB – Kannapolis, NC)
Daveon Perry had a great afternoon for the Rams, as he returned three kickoffs for 125 yards, including an 89 yard return for a touchdown on the game’s opening kick. He averaged 41.5 yards per return.

Coach
Tim Place, Chowan University
The Hawks claimed their third straight win on Saturday with a 27-24 win over Winston-Salem State University. Coach Place led the Hawks to victory over the Rams for the first time in program history and handed Winston-Salem State their first home conference loss since 2010 and snapped a 20 game conference win streak.
