ATLANTA – Junior quarterback Monqavious Johnson (Morehouse) was named
the Offensive Player of the Week and senior linebacker Jewell Ratliff
(Tuskegee) was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week, announced
by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) on Monday.
Freshman wide receiver Amyr Smith (Morehouse) was picked as the Special
Teams Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Monqavious Johnson
Morehouse
QB, 6-0, 190, JR, Atlanta, Ga.
Johnson completed 15 of 22 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns in a
37-35 comeback win over Johnson C. Smith. His longest TD pass was 77
yards. Johnson led the team in rushing with 50 yards on 14 carries. He
generated 361 yards of offense and led the team to three scores on three
trips into the red zone.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jewell Ratliff
Tuskegee
LB, 6-1, 238, Sr., New Orleans, La.
For the third consecutive game this season, Ratliff was among the
leaders in tackles and registered double digit tackles. He finished with
a team-high 15 total tackles against Winston-Salem State, including four
solo stops. He also finished with one sack, two tackles for loss, a
forced fumble, and a pass breakup in the 28-13 win over WSSU.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK

WR/KR, 5-9, 170, FR, Atlanta, Ga.
Smith set a Morehouse record with a 100-yard kickoff return for a
touchdown. In addition, he returned a punt for 16 yards and caught a
12-yard pass. His 128 all-purpose yards helped Morehouse to a 37-35
come-from-behind win over Johnson C. Smith.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Smith set a Morehouse record with a 100-yard kickoff return for a
touchdown. He also returned a punt for 16 yards. His 116 return yards
