ATLANTA, GA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced Isiaiah Hicks (Morehouse), Tavarius Washington (Albany State), Dennis Norfleet (Tuskegee), Turner Warren (Kentucky State) as its players of the week for September 8th.
Hicks received offensive player honors while Washington was tagged the top defender. Norfleet notched newcomer honors and the special team award went to Warren.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Isaiah Hicks
Morehouse College
RB, 5-10, 185, SO, Norcross, GA
Hicks rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns in Morehouse’s win over Edward Waters College. He averaged 10.8 yards per carry and had a long TD of 47 yards.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Albany State University

In a 21-13 loss to Valdosta State University, Washington led the Golden Rams defense in multiple categories. He led the team with a game-high 10 tackles, including eight solos. He also had a sack for a four-yard loss. With ASU trailing 21-6, Washington intercepted a Blazer pass and returned it 53 yards to the Valdosta State five-yard line. The defensive play set up the Golden Rams next offensive touchdown.

Dennis Norfleet

Norfleet got eight touches on offense Saturday, running the ball seven times for 30 yards in his first start for the Golden Tigers. He also caught one pass for 46 yards before being pushed out of bounds inside the 10-yard line. The senior returned one kick-off for 17 yards, and had a 29-yard punt return called back.

Turner Warren

Warren converted two key field goal attempts and was 2-for-2 on PAT attempts in Kentucky State’s 35-20 loss at Hampton. Warren got Kentucky State on the board with a 30-yard field goal just before halftime, and connected on another 33-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to keep the deficit at one possession.
