Houston, Texas – Southern defeated Prairie View A&M 64-40, Friday night to move onto the SWAC title game.
The Jaguars came into this game with full force. The previous game, the entire team couldn’t participate.
Southern started the game off strong, leading the entire half.
They only allowed the Lady Panthers 18 points in the first half, to their 35.
Prairie View A&M couldn’t seem to get things going, offensively, until the second half, but it still wasn’t enough to make a comeback.
Southern had two players to score in double-figures. Jadea Brundidge recorded a double-double with 16 points and grabbing 12 boards. Jasmine Jefferson also scored 16 points.
Shamiya Brooks scored 15 points to lead the Lady Panthers.
She also added six rebounds. Shaneece Stevens added nine points and seven rebounds.
The Jaguars will go head-to-head in the championship game against the No. 3 seed Alabama State.
Southern was picked last year to be this season’s regular season champions.
They were crowned regular season champs during the 2013-14 season. Southern hasn’t won a championship since the 2009-10 season.
