HOUSTON, Texas – The dynamic duo, Britney Wright and Jasmine Peeples both registered double-double to lead Alabama State to a 65-62 win over Grambling State Thursday afternoon at the Toyota Center.

The two teams started the quarterfinals off with high intensity but the lady Hornets would set the tempo majority of the first half.

The Lady Tigers didn’t let down that easy.

The Lady Hornets led the way until 7:41 left in the first half.

Grambling took their first lead by one point, 24-23. GSU led the way going into the locker rooms up by five points, 39-34. Bre’Nae Andrews ended the half with 14 points.

She went 4-5 from the three-point line.

All- Conference first teamer, Britney Wright scored 13 in the first half to lead the Lady Hornets.

ASU came back out the locker room looking for a momentum swing quick but could stop GSU’s sharp shooters Andrews and Neal from scoring.

With 3:57 remaining in the second half, Grambling led by three points, 60-57.

ASU would get the ball on the other end and would knock down two baskets in a row. The Lady Hornets led 63-62 with seconds remaining.

The Lady Tigers would have a chance to shot the last shot but couldn’t get it to go in.

Alabama State would get fouled on the rebound and sent to the free-throw line. Wright knocked down both to secure a three point victory.
