NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State advanced to the women’s semifinals with a 67-55 quarterfinal win over Howard on Thursday afternoon at the Norfolk Scope Arena.
The Spartans (14-15) advance to Friday’s semifinal against No. 8 seed Maryland Eastern Shore at 12 p.m.
Rae Corbo led the Spartans with 22 points on 7-for-17 shooting, while Nia Roberts added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Kayla Roberts, the MEAC Rookie of the Year, also grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with seven points.
Norfolk State shot 41 percent (25-for-61) from the floor, despite hitting just two of 12 3-pointers. The Spartans also crashed the glass to the tune of a 54-35 edge over Howard.
The Lady Bison (4-27) shot just 32.4 percent (23-for-71) from the floor – including a 29 percent clip (9-for-31) in the first half.
Cheyenne Brown and Imani Bailey each had 15 points. Sydni Johnson grabbed 14 rebounds.
