BIRMINGHAM – Kentucky State capitalized on Miles’ missed opportunities to power a 70-41 win on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the 2015 SIAC Basketball Tournament on Wednesay inside the Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham Crossplex.
KSU (22-4) issued a 39-18 lead at the break and held 64-34 lead, its largest point margin, midway through the second half. The Thorobrettes hit 52 percent from the floor with Shaquanda Wiggins tacking on a double-double courtesy of a 11 point – 14 rebound performance. Wiggins hit 5-of-7 from the field and gathered 12 defensive boards.
Brieona Warner led all players with 15 points connecting 7-of-8. Shaia Horton added 13 and Logan Powell chipped in 10. Taylor Sanders paced the offense with five assits.
KSU finished with 46 rebounds and scored 42 points in the paint.
MC (8-19) struggles equated to 25 percent shooting while going 0-5 from long range.
Porshia Blue carried the Lady Bears with 14 points and six rebounds.
KSU advances to the semifinals and will face the winner of the Albany State and Stillman match-up on Friday.
