The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Prairie View’s Alexus Parker as the women’s basketball player of the week for her exceptional performance in competition and leading the Lady Panthers to victories this past weekend.
Parker turned in the third and fourth double-doubles of her career this weekend in leading the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers to a 2-0 week. For the week, Parker averaged 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. She also doled out six assists in Prairie View A&M’s two wins.
In Saturday’s 69-50 win over Mississippi Valley State, Parker scored a game-high 18 points and pulled in a career-best 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Panthers. She shot 36 percent (4 of 11) from the field, and complemented that with a perfect 10-of-10 showing from the free throw line.
On Monday, Parker scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, including seven off the offensive glass to help lead the Lady Panthers to an 84-63 win over Arkansas–Pine Bluff. She shot 7-of-14 from the field and made both of her free throw attempts, giving her a perfect 12-for-12 showing at the line for the weekend.
