For the second consecutive and fifth time this season, Alabama State’s Britney Wright has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference women’s basketball player of the week for her exceptional performance in competition and leading her team to a victory this past Saturday.
Wright recorded her seventh double-double on Saturday as the Lady Hornets defeated Alabama A&M 64-52. She scored 24 points and pulled down 13 boards, all while playing a total of 37 minutes. She has also been named College Sports Madness SWAC Basketball Player of the Week for the second time straight this year.
Wright continues to lead Alabama State in scoring, averaging 15.8 points per game and second in rebounding, averaging 7.3 pg. In the conference, she is second is scoring and first in three-point shooting percentage (.348). She has taken a total of 92 three-pointers and connected on 32 while playing a total of 22 games.
