The No. 1 offense in the SWAC from a season ago has reportedly found a new offensive coordinator.
Alcorn State is expected to hire former Alabama State offensive coordinator Fred Kaiss, according to FootballScoop.com.
Kaiss will replace Willie Simmons, who was hired as the head coach at Prairie View in December.
Kaiss, who has been an offensive coordinator at Hampton and Morgan State, will take over a unit that led the SWAC in almost every offensive category in 2014.
Under Kaiss, Alabama State was No. 5 in scoring offense (29.6 points per game) and No.3 in total offense (436 yards per game).
No stranger to the SWAC, Kaiss coached running backs, was recruiting coordinator and special teams coordinator at Southern from 1993 to 1996 and served as offensive coordinator receivers coach at Alabama A&M during the 2000 and 2001 season.
