Florida A&M has named E. D’Wayne Robinson interim athletic director.
Robinson, who is described as “a highly-seasoned veteran in the field of athletic administration,” will oversee the department’s operations effective immediately, the school said in a statement.
He moves into position held by then interim athletic director Nelson Townsend who died Jan. 8.
Robinson was serving as Florida A&M Associate Athletic Director for NCAA Compliance prior to his appointment.
“With that in mind, and in thinking about (Townsend) and his vision for the program, I want to bring us back to a point where all students are involved. We’re victorious in what we do on the field,” Robinson told the Tallahassee Democrat. “Our students are ambassadors. We’re doing well on the field. We’re doing well academically. Everybody is accountable for FAMU athletics.”
