Alcorn state basketball coach Luther Riley is reportedly taking a leave of absence to address “private matters,” according to reports.
On Tuesday, Riley confirmed the news to a Jackson, Miss., TV station.
He said that he will be away for at least 30 days, but could return on a earlier date. He also said that he and the Alcorn State administration “get along well.”
Riley said that the claims of a physical altercation with a player are “completely false.
He said that assistant coach Shawn Pepp will serve as the interim head coach.
Alcorn State is 2-12 this season.
