Alexus Hicks Named MEAC Player Of The Week

NORFOLK, Va. – Alexus Hicks of Maryland Eastern Shore was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Maryland Eastern Shore teammate Moengaroa Subritzky earned Rookie of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Hicks (G, 5-5, Fr., Raleigh, N.C.) shot 70-percent (7-of-10) from the field against the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, while recording 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and four boards in an 87-78 loss.

Subritzky (G, 5-10, Fr., Auckland, New Zealand) finished with her first career double-double of 10 points and 10 assists against the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. She also chipped in with eight rebounds, four blocks and two steals.

Other Top Performances

Rae Corbo (NSU) notched 25 points, three rebounds and two assists in a loss to Holy Cross.

Janelle Lane (CSU) finished with 17 points and five rebounds in 36 minutes against Virginia Commonwealth University.

Taneka Rubin (FAMU) recorded 14 points, including two 3-pointers, in a loss to Miami.

Omaah Tayong (CSU) registered 10 rebounds and one blocked shot in 16 minutes against Virginia Commonwealth University.
