Alabama State’s Maurice Strong has been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as the men’s basketball player of the week for his outstanding performance in competition between December 3-9.
Senior forward, Maurice Strong led the Hornets to a strong 80-55 win over in-state rival Jacksonville State. Playing a total of 31 minutes, he scored a team-high 16 points on seven-of-11 shooting from the field. He also snatched eight rebounds, two shy of recording her first double-double of the 2014-15 season. Strong was 67 percent from the free-throw line, making 2-of-3 . For good measure he had one assist, blocked shot and steal.
