HOUSTON, Texas – The Lady Panthers claimed their second victory of the season as they defeated the Cougars of University of Houston, 61-56 Sunday evening at the Hofheinz Pavilion. The Cougars scored the first four points of the game.
At the 18:20 mark, Jeanette Jackson knocked down a three-pointer. Both teams were scoreless for the next four minutes until Asha-Hampton-Finch hit a short jumper in the paint.
The Lady Panthers would never look back. Prairie View A&M outscored Houston 30-17 in the first half. The second half, University of Houston made a comeback out-scoring PVAMU 39-31 but it wasn’t enough to capture the win. Jessieka Palmer scored a team-best 14 points to led the Cougars.
Jackson led the way for the Lady Panthers recording a game-high 28 points and pulling down seven rebounds and four assists.
