pvbbUniform designs have come a long way in recent years with some schools going so far outside the box that they need a compass to get back.

Color schemes, patterns and logos — even for some blue blood schools — are replaced or altered get a few extra dollars in sells and possibly get an upper hand on recruiting.

We all know millennial athletes think they’ll be on fleek by rocking the latest style that helps drive interest.

Some of these wardrobe makeovers are even inspired by pop culture such as popular daytime talk shows.

Prairie View’s black uniforms seemingly are paying homage to the “The View.”

When we think of Prairie View men’s basketball, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O’Donnell, Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace certainly comes to mind.

What an ingenious idea.

I would have probably considered “The Pink Panther,” though. That’s just me.

Maybe Jackson State will mass produce jerseys inspired by the hit TV show “The Famous Jett Jackson.”

Southern could make a fashion statement by donning game day gear featuring colors that pays respects to Bravo’s “Southern Charm.”

Texas Southern could go with “Scandal.”  The possiblities are endless.

Why stop there?

Rap albums, movies, radio shows and even podcasts have to be considered, right?

Grambling did once go with unis that were influenced by Big Boi of Outkast fame.

THE FORECAST

Southern versus Grambling State

This game will actually mean something for the first time in a number of years. A trip to the SWAC championship game will be on the line Saturday.

Grambling is having a magical season. Too bad their sorcery will run out against a streaking Southern bunch.

Southern 31, Grambling 23

Virginia State versus Bloomsburg University

I don’t know anything about Bloomsburg. I can only assume they’re good enough to be in the second round of the Division II playoffs.  What I do know about Virginia State is they played well enough to top unbeatable Winston-Salem State and then drop LIU in the postseason opener.

Virginia State 21, Bloomsburg University 16

Morgan State versus Richmond

Morgan State has waited 35 years to play a Richmond team that has won the FCS national championship in the 21st Century.

MEAC schools have not won a playoff game since 1999.  Bad combination for a squad who we don’t even know is the MEAC’s best.

Richmond 34, Morgan State 20
