Alabama def. ALABAMA A&M, 75-44
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M suffered a 75-44 loss to the University of Alabama Wednesday night at the Foster Auditorium.  AAMU had two ladies score in double figures.  Brittney Strickland led the way with 17 points and chipped in three rebounds and three steals.  Taylor Sippial added 10 points and tallied three steals also. Alabama A&M got off to a late start, allowing five unanswered points in less than a minute. With 12:35 remaining on the clock, the Lady Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run and eventually cut the Tide down to two with 4:57 remaining in the period.  AAMU were only down 10 points (35-25) going into the second half. At the beginning of the second half, UA connected on a pair of old fashioned three-point plays at the beginning of the second half to extend its lead back out to double digits, which it would hold for the duration of the game. The Tide would go on to lead by as many as 31 points. The Lady Bulldogs shot 32.7 percent from the field, 37.5 from the three-point range and 62.5 percent from the charity stripe.

CHICAGO, Ill. – Jackson State University women’s basketball team tops Chicago State 70-60 Wednesday night. The Cougars were leading majority of the first half, going into halftime with a score of 40-34.  The momentum switched the second half and the Lady Tigers took control.  JSU outscored CSU 36-20, ending the game on a 31-9 run.  They held Chicago State to a 29 percent shooting percentage. Ayanna Fuller-Hardy led the Lady Tigers with an impressive double-double.  She recorded a game-best 19 points and pulled down a total of 16 rebounds. Ke’ra St. John pitched in 13 points and Derica Wiggins added 11 points in Jackson State’s road victory.  JSU (1-4) earns their first victory of the 2014-15 season.
